Little Fuuny

There is something really funny about walking into Sherwin Williams and the employee yell your name like you are a long lost drinking buddy.

Do I have an addiction to paint?

Something to think about.

Oh, painted the breakfast nook. Pictures of bright orange to follow...

At least they're not yelling your name at BevMo. Did you "find" the cheese log? I bet the cheesy gas emmissions from Sly ate another whole in the ozone...

I've never been to a blog before, but after looking at your postings, knew we had two things in common - a love of gardening and tudor homes of similar vintage. Question: In the front hall of my house is a niche in the wall where I believe a phone existed. Below the arched niche is what appears to be a drop leave door of some sort. Do you have any idea how this in wall phone station looked or functioned?

The phone niche sounds common, we have one too. I am curious about the door under the shelf. Is this an add on? You can sometimes tell by the wood used or the plaster work.

The door under the phone niche is original. It is the same chestnut wood with the same molding. There is a space between the top of the door and the place where the phone would sit. Do you have any idea where I would look for a picture of a renovated (tudor) home from the mid to late 20's? I'm not sure this is unique to tudors. I've been on al sorts of telephone sites and have found the Western Electric phone that was probably used.

Its not easy to find picts of tudor houses. I had a hard time when we were trying to pick the exterior paint colors. I was looking for reference.

We have an iron holder in our kitchen that I was trying to find a picture of. We never did find anything. Not even at any appliance sites.

Sorry to say I do not know of any good sites for you. Your phone shelf and secret hiding sound very cute.
